Doctors warn of new infection in fungal meningitis outbreak
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - Just when patients thought they were out of the woods, health officials are now warning of a different health problem connected with the fungal meningitis outbreak.
Dozens of patients in Tennessee have come down with a new type of infection at the site where they were given shots of tainted drugs. Now, the health department is notifying hundreds of patients that they may be at risk.
Local attorney Randy Kinnard represents 26 patients who have become very sick with fungal meningitis as well as the families who have lost loved ones to the disease. If that wasn't enough, now he has two clients who have developed a new infection after getting a tainted steroid epidural from the now shut down New England Compounding Center.
