State Highway 840, referred to by many as just Highway 840, is a highway around Nashville, Tennessee. Those in the area know this is a highway frequently used by local passenger vehicle drivers and truck drivers.
Recently, there have been a number of trucking accidents along or near Interstate 840.
For example, late last month, a tractor-trailer overturned on State Route 840 around 2:15 a.m. The rollover happened near mile marker 16. Authorities claim the truck driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
According to police, the truck had taken out a guardrail before flipping over. The driver suffered minor injuries.
However, considering the truck was hauling vehicle parts and several hundreds of gallons worth of fuel, the state route was closed down for several hours, with traffic being diverted.
This was not the only crash though involving a tractor-trailer spilling its load. In fact, just this past Tuesday, around 6 p.m., a truck lost a load of steel near mile marker 232 on Interstate 40 near the State Route 840 intersection.
In this incident, three vehicles were damaged and a transport company had to come out to the scene in order to have the roadside steel moved.
Overall, these two accidents bring to mind the importance of truck safety. This means drivers need to be rested and alert while driving and all loads need to be properly secured. For while in these two crashes no one was killed, there are plenty of deadly trucking accidents ever year caused by truck driver or trucking company negligence.
